Mac Book Pro Monitor Issue - 10-14-2010, 11:18 AM

My wife was working on her laptop editing photos in lightroom. When she sat the computer down and came back to it ten min later she thought it went to sleep. She tried to get the screen to come back on and nothing happened it even after she tried turning off and then back on and still nothing. This morning turns on fine just wondering if anyone has had a similar issue with thier laptop. Its about 3 years old and get used often with editing photos. Could it be just time for a new laptop?

I bought a Macbook Pro back in Feb. '09. Here's what happened: http://www.texasphotoforum.com/forum...placement.html

The screen light was dead, but it was more than that apparently. Ended up being the logic board (if I remember correctly) but then they had to do other stuff too. Hope it doesn't happen to you. If it's still under warranty I'd take it in asap and have them check it out.

No electronic is perfect, but I've found my Macs keep ticking for an average of 7 years before it's time to replace them. Although I'll tell a little story in another thread here in a minute.

Woah, you're telling me they replaced the logic board under warranty even though apple care ran out a few months ago? Man I swear, being a chick has so many advantages...

But really though, I've heard of them bending the rules a little bit for loyal customers.

Just check it out, inspect it before you leave the store, and make sure they didn't jack anything else up, like the airport card or screen, like in my experience above. Glad it worked out for you.
