The new i5-2500K and i7-2600K are making some noise. In addition to the new processors there is also a new P67 chipset. This is what I've been waiting for. Time to build me a new system!

Yes it is. Building a new rig right now. Just need a GPU and I'm set.

Interested in AMD's Bulldozer line, then Intel's Ivy Bridge. It's getting intense!

I just gotta say this is one of the dumbest names for a processor I've ever seen.

^Exactly. Who wants grimy sand gettin' all up in their computer?
Also, it sounds like a girls name, not that it's a bad thing. Just not a good name for a processor.

I'm not knowledgeable enough to know what all of that means, but my initial impression is that you can build a system with one of these processors that is stinking fast!

Who cares about names...geez. They can call it Sandy's Sissy Slow processor for all I care. All I'm interested in are the spec and the specs say the i5-2500K & i7-2600K kick some arse.

Every processor variation has a name attached to the variation so that you know where it stands in the hierarchy. Here are Intels Names:

and AMD's:

I think I'll stick with my X58 Classified (e759) and I7 920 (@ 4.2GHz) for now.

I'm building a Sandy Snatch as well, but my power supply decided to blow up. So now I'm waiting on a new one for my wife's new machine to arrive so I can verifiy that's the only problem. I got to see the new UEFI on my Asus board for about 5 minutes.
