I recently went from an old linkseys wirelessG router to a Belkin Play N600. The belkin refreshes itself every week and loses all it's settings, which usually takes over an hour of doing all kinds of things to it to try to restore it. I still haven't figured out how to do it quickly. I'm ready to take it back and trade it in on another wireless router.
Does anyone have any recomendations on one that is reliable and easy to set up, and has good customer service.
Thanks,

Have you tried updating the firmware?
I love my Netgear WNDR3700. I had them all, belkin, dlink, MS, linksys/cisco, etc and this blows all of them out of the water. I think this has been rated one of the best wireless routers out there if not the best (depending on publication and networking forum you goto). WNDR3700
It cost a little more than your cheaper routers, but it just works, performance is awesome, no issues, etc. My 2 cents....

I have called their support line 2 times, both times they took me through the same things I had already tried on my own, both hung up confused without being able to get it to work. Even their supervisor called and couldn't get it to work. I just kept at it and it finally started working.
Yes I did the updates. I'm ready to try a different one.

Personally speaking... its kind of a toss-up now.
I am running on AT&T Uverse. Never had a problem with other brand devices on the backside of the Uverse Router.
I have been a big Linksys person for years, since their WRT-54G v1 routers all the way up to their WRT 310N and 610N routers.
Unfortunately, I have had (in the past 12mo) 2x 310N and 1x 610N failures, where the Internet UTP cable port physically went dead (the rest of the router and admin console worked like a champ).
I am still running a Linksys 610N downstairs with a 310N daisy-shained upstairs.
Now then on the other side of the coin, my dad is on SBC Global DSL (Bedford, TX). Up until recently, I had him running the Linksys 310N in his house. It died for some really screwy reason, because it wouldnt retain its settings for more than 15min. It was out of warranty. We tried to replace it with one of the new Linsys (Cisco) E3000 series units, but their new wizard only first time setup process is so frustrating, that you can just go set it up (for those of us that dont need an automated wizard to do it for us). It could never sync to the DSL. We traded out the DSL modems, tried again, no-luck. Tried the E4200, no luck with anything. Confirmed that either of the DSL modems would work like a dream with a laptop hanging directly off of it. Took the E3000 and E4200 back and came back home with a new NetGear N300 and had him back up and running in less than 15min. Working like a dream.
Since he switched over to the NetGear, I started watching NetGear related forums, comments, etc. The single biggest thing that I have seen stated over and over, is that once a NetGear router loses its configuration and starts freaking out, is that you have to call into tech support and pay them a fee to get the most recent rev for your unit. Will have to see if thats the case when his eventually gets to the freaking out point.

There's a saying in the IT business when it comes to networking gear:
"No one ever get's fired for buying Cisco."
It's pretty much true. Linksys is a solid brand. You might try to avoid the lowest end model, but in general any of the 'N' or even still the 'ABG' models are very good devices.

I've had the Netgear WNDR3700. It's a very good device and I liked it a lot but since I'm running the Apple Time Capsule I'm really impressed. It is faster, easier and prettier than the Netgear. So I wouldn't buy anything but the Time Capsule or the Airport Extreme by Apple.

Steve,
Sorry to hear about your troubles. I prefer Linksys routers and I like their support if they are still under warranty. One thing I have noticed is that they do go out in about 3-4 years. Hope you get it resolved.
