What software to view images after capture?? - 02-07-2011, 01:26 PM

Hello Guys,

For all those event photographers I was wondering what application you use while capturing you photos. I have another event coming up and my clients really liked the fact that they could look at the images while I was capturing them on my big screen.

Problem: I'm using the canon software for this, I really dislike it. Not the best thing.

Solution: ?????

Is there a better application for this. By the way, I'm on a MAC.

Thanks for any input.

-Dave

I use Aperture and it works well for me.
I've never used tethered to the camera.

Thanks guys, I actually use Lightroom 2.0. Haven't upgraded yet because I heard it is so much slower than 2.0, and with my work Flow I need speed. Have you found this to be true or is it not so bad? And would I need to upgrade to get tethered lightroom??

if you have CS5, why not just use RAW for your post processing? There's not much difference between the two.

True, there isn't a whole bunch of difference in RAW processing, but....I purchased Aperture 3 initially as a digital asset management program, along with the ability to produce books, etc.

Since then I've found that it is highly effective for almost all of the post-procesing I do. I'm using PS CS5 for special effects and such, and for editing that Aperture doen't have the capabilities to do.

I use Picasa for first viewing to sort out the good from the bad ones. It lets you run a full screen size slideshow and you can mark ("star") the images you want to keep.

Edit: Sorry, I didn't read the original question very well. Forget what I've said.

I use folders named by date and subject then Adobe Bridge in Photoshop CS4 for organizing, culling, processing (via Camera Raw). I only enter Photoshop to do detailed touch-ups, almost only on images already purchased, rarely on proofs. I also use Bridge for showing photos during the sales session.

I think it's well worth it. The process 2010 and NR and vastly improved.

Yes, tethered LR3, another reason to upgrade. I like it much better than tethered with Canon DPP
