I have plenty of primes in my personal collection, so if necessary I can borrow some of my own equipment. If I avoid zooming while taking video though I think I can do okay with my 17-50 Tamron and 70-200 Canon lenses. For personal work I usually prefer primes, but I need the variability of a zoom much of the time for work photos.

Reading through this thread ... it seems you will be staying on the PC side ...

I do agree with Thomas that Final Cut Pro is one of the best editing layout out ... and has been for 5+ years.

But again, since you are on the PC side, I recommend you look into Avid and stay away from Premiere ... Adobe makes great Still Photo, Graphic and Web applications but fell very very short with Premiere. All of the editors and my self that work on video either use FCP for Macs or Avid on PCs ... and the PCs that are bundled with Avid (if you want the bundle) are HPs.

Good luck getting all of the equipment list down and getting your work computer for the job.

LOVE AFTER EFFECTS ... It's industry standard and there isn't anyone I know that doesn't use it as a pro motion graphics editor.

Apple came out with their version called Motion, which has improved ... but After Effects still wins the battle of control and shear connection with the Master Suite. You can take Illustrator Raw Files and Photoshop Raw files and keep them in their respective Vector and non-Ventor forms and play with the layers.

I can go on and on with After Effects ... have been using it since AE v5.
