connection issues - 02-18-2011, 11:47 AM

so I installed a new connection a while ago. It has two firewire ports and two usb ports. I installed it so I can download old camcorder video camcorder tapes. I know it works because I did it once. Now...the memory has failed and I can't get it to work again. I am wondering if the firewire installation thingie is still working. So I was wanting to look at that first....now If I could remember how to get to that to see if it is installed in the computer??? So all I want for Christmas is my memory back .....and some helP??? please...

Sounds like this is a PCI card you installed into your 'puter, right? When you say the memory failed, is that on the card itself, or the actual computer RAM?

To check to see if it's still shown as installed (you're running WinDoze, right?), got to Control Panel, and then System, and click on the Hardware tab and then Device Manager. It should show up under USB controllers.

So...is firewire installation thingie a technical term? :p

Thank you Mr. Putnam...yes it is a technical term. For us that can barely swim, that's as technical as it gets!!!! And you got me exactly where I needed to be...thanks for understanding non technical terms!!! aka reading my mind!!! : )

BTW...we need to get together...I am going to have to buy you lunch. My new computer has a hard drive full. I apparently have put folders in the wrong place...some were suppose to go in C and some in another drive "S" and whoopsie...now C is full ....
