Apple 27" Cinema vs Dell U2711 - 03-02-2011, 07:35 PM

So, I'm looking to add a 2nd monitor, I have been tossing around the 2 due to price and positive reviews. For me the biggest selling point in the Dell is that is not glossy compared to the Apple.

Another option is possibly the 30" Apple Display(refurb) or Dell 30" U3011

What are your opinions? Thanks in advance

I think both monitors use the exact same LG LCD panel.

I saw where Eizo is coming out with a 27" monitor at the end of the month. My sights are set in that direction but they haven't released pricing yet...

Eizo monitors are just a tad out of my price range. :)

Sadly, LG doesnt have a monitor in the 27" size with IPS, yet they are suppliers of the IPS LCD to Apple and Dell.

It is a shame that LG doesn't sell their 27 or 30 inch directly. I just picked up an LG 23" ips screen at frys, it is really quite spectacular.

I own the older Dell 30" monitor, and I can attest, it's a workhorse. It's one of those pieces of tech where I didn't realize how much I'd love it, or how worthwhile an investment it would be, until I had it hooked up and started using it.

I recently bought the 27" Apple Display which I used with my custom PC. I love the apple monitor because it's glossy and gives a nice resolution to my photos, although I love Apple monitor, I rather use a PC operating system.

Thanks for the replies and input. After having the new 15" MBP with the matte display, I'll be getting the 27" or 30" Dell as the Apple Display is glossy isn't going to do it for me.
