mmm guess our software section got removed???

I always have used the hp software to prepare the file to print on my cd...it seems it doesn't want to work. Why or why do this things come and go like the wind for me???

I can't seem to get the program to print on the cd. Are there other options or am I going to have to figure this one out thru hp?????? : (

I refuse to buy anything btw....

If you are on Windows (XP/Vista/7) and loaded iTunes, it loaded "upperfilters" for your cd/dvd drive. Some computers even lose the drive due to this. Run regedit and find upperfilters and clear the value.

Renea, are you talking about writing data to an optical drive O R using the go software to print on the disk?

It's HP's software. In the past I have struggled sometimes to get them to insert photos so I have just either used text or used one of their generic formats. Sometimes I got lucky and it all worked together. Today I can't get any of it to work. First you are suppose to choose the format and the next screen is suppose to show the format and edit any options...it doesn't show anything...obviously.

Is this 'Lightscribe?' That's a technology allowing one to burn an image onto the face of a CD/DVD. Invented by HP (I believe), it requires a Lightscribe-capable drive, media, and the correct software. I have Lightscribe drives in both office & home computers & can tell you that the technology works, but it's persnickity. Recently attempted to burn a picture to a CD and the software couldn't find a Lightscribe drive in the computer - even though it worked the last time....

Had to go to the Lightscribe web page, download & install updated Lightscribe drivers. After a restart, it worked again. This has happened a couple of times since I installed Lightscribe drives in my computers. Almost more trouble than it's worth...

thank you but no it isn't lightscribe....and I have uninstalled and reinstalled the HP software (which is what this is) and as soon as it is installed, it says "there is a problem with your software this program is shutting down"

OK, a little more careful reading of this thread indicates that the program should let you print a CD face in an inkjet printer, correct? If so, it's likely using a lot of the same code as Lightscribe; it's mainly the output method that differs (an inkjet printer instead of the laser inside an optical drive). If you've not already checked for software updates, I recommend doing so. That includes the printer driver as well as the program - they interact.

imo, over the years HP has built some pretty good hardware, but they have also provided about the sorriest software I've EVER dealt with. Printer drivers in particular, but the Lightscribe software seems unfortunately typical. Perhaps your HP application is similarly crafted. On general principles, I would look for an alternative, even if it means $$ - life is too short to deal with crapware just cause it was pre-installed. And for me, 'crapware' includes software that worked at one time but now fails with ambiguous or unhelpful error msgs, and without you making any changes to it (that you're aware of).

I think she is trying to print an image directly in the disk itself, using printable media and the HP software to control the printer.

Renae, what version of windows? Have you tried installing and/or running as administrator? I take it you are running the latest version of the disk printing package.

If you are confident that the application is compatible with your OS version. I would complete un-install the product, reboot then re-install.

Are you installing from a disk or from a downloaded file? If it is downloaded you might want to download again, wouldnt be the first time a file corrupted

mmm... now there might be a little clitch there. I am using Windows 7 64 bit. Usually what I have done is uninstall, then install. I don't think I reboot in between. but after. I don't have a disc so I install the file directly from the site and also install the updated file directly from the site....

I have uninstalled all HP stuff from the control panel..directly.

Pardon my misreading it as a "CD write". You do know how to install the HP software as 32bit on your 64bit system?
