Help with Viewsonic VP2365WB monitor driver - 04-05-2011, 07:20 PM

I just purchased a Viewsonic VP2365WB 23" monitor. It has great color but my issue is that they don't seem to have a Windows 7 64-bit driver that will work. The problem is that the highest resolution I can get it 1600x1200, which distorts my images when trying to edit in Lightroom (it stretches them too wide). The recommended resoution is 1920x1080, which is a completely different aspect ratio. Has anyone on here who has this monitor had these issues?:

Will your video card driver support that resolution?

The answer lies in your computer and video card and not the monitor driver. You do not need a driver for a monitor since they are pretty uniform. You do need the latest driver for the video card you have. You might be limited to the max resolution of your video card or motherboard inboard video. Also, what connection method are your using? Dvi?

Can you tell me about your system? Video specs system specs, model etc. That would be telling most.

Also you only want to be in 1920x1080 since that is the native resolution.

I have a Toshiba Satellite P505D 8395 which has an integrated ATI Radeon HD3200 graphics card. I checked and that card supports that resolution. I have not yet checked to see if the motherboard will support it. I have installed the most recent video driver I could find. I installed Catalyst Control Center and was finally able to set a resolution in the correct aspect ratio but its only 1280x720. I had to use a vga cable as there was no Dvi out from the computer. I am operating Windows 7 64-bit. I appreciate your response and welcome any suggestions.

Thanks Dick. I tried to install this driver and it said it could not install and told me to download the unsigned driver. When I tried to insall that, it said that the monitor did not support that version of windows. Basically, that's what I was told when I called Viewsonic support, too.

Also, Catalyst Control Center is detecting my Viewsonic monitor as a CRT instead of an LCD. I have also gotten a message that my monitor was not recognized.

Okay, I might have found a partial answer. While searching for specs on my P505-S8935 Satellite, I found this "Display Resolution Supports 720p content, 1680x945 (HD+)" The monitor is 1080p. Maybe I'm wrong, but I would think that I should at least be able to get the 1680x945 on the Viewsonic. Hmmmm

Few Items:
1: You don't have a card, it is integrtated on the motherboard and shares from the RAM and CPU to render an image.
2: It isn't the monitor, you shouldn't and don't need any driver especially on Win7
3: Simply put, you might just not have the horsepower to run that resolution.
4: Change to DVI and see if that changes.

+1

I would just buy a graphics card that supports the resolution you need for the monitor. you definitely don't want to run it on anything other than its native resolution.
