Lightroom 3 & external hard drive

I was wondering if it was possible to install lightroom onto an external hd and use lightroom on any computer I plug my external into?

If it is possible would you recommend it and what would I have to do to make it work?

As you can tell I am not that knowledgeable when it come to the way computers work!

No. Lightroom has to be installed on each PC. You can use the external to host your Lightroom catalog of images.

Problem I am running into is I use three computer. I use my external right now to host my catalogs but was hoping I would be able to run lightroom from the external...

Oh well gotta think of another solution

Everett,
You can install Lightroom on the 3 PC's and use the external to host your image files, this would let you use all 3 PC's. You just can't run lightroom from the external only.
