Sure, that's correct. But it also stands to reason that today's fastest thing will be a viable computer for a longer period of time than today's modest computer, which will be viable for longer than today's mediocre machine. That being said I usually by the "modest" computer available when I purchase a computer but secretly lust after the "fast" computer. :) My current machine is a 24" iMac from roughly mid-2009. Still more than fast enough for what I throw at it.
