I have a matte screen and converted (kicking and screaming) from a high gloss screen. I have a 1900x1080p screen on a Pavillion dv7 laptop 16.8" screen.
This thing with all the bells and whistles and 12GB ram 750 7200Rpm, Core i7 dual quad processor, cost me 2600$ or something like that... I didn't have enough for the Macbook that I wanted - and this thing is more powerful supposedly...
Now, my point is this: even though it is a matte screen, it is really a beautiful screen. Its not the glossy that I was so very used to and loved more than life itsself - I am VERY happy with this screen as long as I am color calibrated which I do bi monthly with my xrite idisplay 2...
Just remember to always calibrate at least 1x a month. Especially on laptops since we tend to use them more than desktops (because it's more convenient) and the lcd's supposedly don't last as long for other reasons. You just need to make sure you calibrate often. (ESPECIALLY if you are a portrait photographer, nothing is worse than orange oompa loompa people or magenta faces.. not fun and almost impossible to fix unless you are doing b/w or sepia.
I hope your new laptop is killer!!! I know it's been a while since you got it.
Also, if its worth anything, Asus has a pseudo-macbook air computer that was released last month... I've not followed up on the reviews as of yet. But, initial reports were good now that they got the Sandy Bridge issues resolved. |
