Mac Book Pro Not Working!!! - 05-04-2011, 01:57 PM

So my wife tells me yesterday that the our 2007 Mac Book Pro wont turn on. When i get home the wall charger is plugged in but the little light that show its being charged or full (Green and Yellow light) is not even on. When I press the power button nothing happens nothing. We have had the battery replaced about a year and half ago due to it not holding a charge, but never had this problem before. The mac book is about four or five years old and thoughts as to what the heck is going on?

The power input may have died. Take it to the Apple store.

clean the connectors.... Mine gets temperamental some times and does the same but I just clean them off (be careful not the scratch he gold plating off) and it works good again.

Sounds like Either you got a bad battery or a Dead Power Supply!

But sounds like a dead power supply.

Ouch, sorry to hear that! If it's under warranty, I'd definitely have Apple take a look at it. Nothing was spilled on it right? Also, it might be worth getting a quote from MissionRepair.com, I just sent my MBP off to them due to a spilled drink.

Good luck!

Not sure about your model, but I have had flaky things happen (including not coming on) when the PRAM battery died.

I've had this happen before on my newish MBP. The Apple Stores don't know what went wrong, and it invariably works when I take it in.

Just for grins take it to a different outlet in your house and see if you get the same results. You never know...

Sorry for the late reply, but it turned out to be a bad power supply, and just bought a new one. Thanks everyone for your help. I really dodged a bullet here!

There is or was a class action suit over the mag power supply?

Class-Action Lawsuit Forces Apple To Replace Frayed MagSafe Power Cords | TechCrunch

>>Any long-time Apple devotee has struggled through the charger situation. Those Mag-Safe T-shaped chargers fray pretty easily, at which point you have to twist and turn the cord to pull in a charge. It’s a huge pain, to say the least. But it appears those struggles are coming to a close, as Apple has lost a lawsuit which will now require the company to either replace MagSafe power cords or hand over a chunk of change.<<

I really think it's just people who don't take out of their electronics.

I have had my Macbook pro for around 4.5 years and still have the original power supply.

No fraying here, but I baby my equipment because it is also my work machine.

But glad to see Apple is willing to fix the issue, to an extent.

Sugru, a little pricey but a little goes a long way. We have reinforced our Apple connectors with Sugru. A bit on the wire - connector region. Smooths and reinforces that area.

Found on YouTube: repair broken apple stuff with sugru.mov
Check out this video on YouTube:

Shows repairs. We bring the (blend) Sugru onto the connector also.

Turn sound off music is annoying.
