you HAVE to do the USER Swap as i detailed before. What happens is the malware creates a html link that reinfects every time. Since the link is not a virus the scanner does not see it. this is usually tied to a particular user account so you can defeat it by running a different account.

If that doesn't work, get hijackthis from Cnet and run that.

Sorry about your misfortune. What a PITA. For a kids computer that's going to be used for a lot of surfing to who knows where you might take a hard look at Linux. The pluses may outweigh the minuses. Good luck!

Well the good news is Mark, You become very good at computer stuff!! I've had to clean it off once, and it may happen again. I'm completely swamped right now, so the poor neglected little things are down to only one computer and have to use that ugly word called "share" .....won't be long before they called CPS on me!!!

Acually you need antivirus and malware. I reco the Avast and Microsoft security Essintials as a 1,2 punch.

I disagree, MSE is an antivirus software, I've found it dosent always pick up the latest rogue anti-virus program (malware).

I reccomend Microsoft Security Essentials for your AV and then Malwarebytes Free for your Anti-Malware.

And either AVG Resuce or Trinity Rescue for your hard to get stuff.

And then finally your Windows 7 Install media as your nuclear option.

I was lost as a AVG user when the update cratered my computer. I have YET to get a virus or Malware with the combo listed. Trust me, there have been some pretty good catches to. MSE is both but who really trusts microsoft? So the added Avast works in harmony with them.
