ok...so my c drive is completely full. I cannot find anything I can get rid of. I have 1200 photos I need to process in LR. UGH!! Is there anyway I can change where the files go, so I can finish processing these silly things? | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. Move your files off of c onto an external drive, then in lightroom, either reimport them or you can relink them.

Let me rephrase, copy then delete. Moving files and then running out of space on the destination could cause issues.

Is your drive partitioned or loaded with OEM bloatware? If so taking care of that may help.
I had a HP netbook with an 8-gig SSD and an Assus eee-PC 4-gig SSD Linux, judicious use of thumb drives helped. Best thumb drive prices were at Micro Center. Also Secure Digital cards with the netbook's built in reader were great help also.

You and I probably have the same configuration. I keep all of my images on the G: drive and let LR run on C: drive. Moving the images to G: should clear enough room for LR to function with some space to spare (depending on other programs installed).

It left my house with zero bloatware.

When you import through lightroom, you can choose where you are sending them to.. Just pick your external drive and it will store them there never to touch the internal hard drive.
also I believe one of the drop downs you want enable is "minimize" also when you are importing if you want a quicker import, It doesn't slow down the retrieval of the files you are working on, well maybe just a touch.
If you moved files remember to relink them as someone pointed out above, so LR knows where to find them. It's a one click fix, and easy to do

A SSD main, RAID 1 longterm storage, and 2 tb RAID 0. Just adjust the settings of the program that is importing to go somewhere else. I can remote in today....text me.
There is plenty of room not to involve a External.

I would copy the catalog to a external HD or put a bigger SSD drive in there....
