What I have to get is the processor, CPU heatsink/fan, DVD burner, side 200mm fan, a few HDDs and a legal copy of Windows 7 64.

If you look at the mobo image, next to the "OPT_TEMP2" text you'll see 8 solder points that's missing a chip.

I built a 1090T system much like you did - rock stable. Saved a ton "relatively" over a comparable i7 build.

Thanks Rob, the thought is appreciated. However, my buddy who owns a computer repair store in Baton Rouge is gonna hook me up. I have to go there in three weeks for a class. I'm going to pick one up (for free as well) from him when I go.

Everything is put together. Just waiting on the other parts and programs to finish 'er up.

As long as it's faster than the system I got, I'll be happy.

Finally got everything together, plugged it all in and ... Nothing! All I got was the lights on the MB for OC/Start/reset buttons. No fans. No beeps. No nothing. So, I talked to a buddy and we figure either PSU or MB failure.

1: Check the tightness of your plugs on the mobo
2: Make sure your stand-offs on the mobo correspond to the case. Sometimes there might be an extra standoff shorting the board
3: Start barebones first, no extra usb, nothing. Video card, mouse keyboard one drive and one stick of ram.

I went and picked up another MB (990FX Sabertooth) and plugged it in. It booted up first try.

I contacted Asus and getting my Crosshair V MB switched out.

Any news on how it's going? I almost went with the Asus MB, but I was torn between that and the Gigabyte I got (then it went on sale).
