I cannot speak for the X-rite, but I have a Spyder3 Pro and am very pleased with it. SUPER easy to use. You install the software, hang the tool on the screen when and where it tells you, run the software.

I have mine running a calibration for the laptop and one for the external monitor, and it can run both at the same time. SUPER easily.

The Xrite Display2 is discontinued. Which kind of sucks since I bought it a month ago. They just discontinued it this month.

They will still have the downloads available and will still support it, they just came out with a new 'version' of it, which is the Pro version. It is 269$, and if you turn in your old one, you can get a 40$ credit.

Or, if you can, you should see if you can send it back to where you bought it - but, because technically it's an electronic device, you may not be able to.

I've had my Display 2 for a year and 1/2 now, and I calibrate everyone I knows monitor and have saved all of them an assload of money from them going out and buying for themselves.

And, with the money I've made for calibrating their monitors, I basically got mine for free! Not to mention all the free Starbucks I have been gifted. My friends are nice like that!

So no worries, you and I both should be fine! But, it is always killer and soooo much fun to have the newest, the best, the latest the greatest.....

It sucks on the pocket book though to have G.A.S... (gear acquisition syndrome) and trust me, I have realllly bad G.A.S!

I agreee and there is a software up date that was supposed to be due this month. (I have not checked recently) It is a great little device and actually bought it based on the review here via the Pixtus store link. I have loaned it out a few times myself. I think I will have to start doing it for Starbuck cards. :)

why stop at only calibrating your monitor... X-rite ColorMunki will do both your monitor and your printer, you will see night/day improvements in your printer...

also understand, that even with a calibrated monitor, you balance the file, not always what you see... what you see is only your monitors rendering of that file...
