The Asus Eee PC 1215B-PU17 I ordered has an AMD Fusion APU E350 1.6GHz (dual core) Processor, (and will soon have 8 GB DDR3-1333 RAM), 12.1" (1366 x 768) Display, VGA & HDMI outputs, a 320 GB Hard Drive (that I'm swapping out for a 750 GB drive), an SDHC/SDXC Card Reader, 2x USB 2.0 Ports and 1x USB 3.0 Port (5 Gbit/sec). It will have Win 7 Ultimate 64-Bit installed by me from an OEM Full Installation disc.

My question, since I run Linux on my other PC's, is what have you found to be a good lightweight Internet Security Software Suite for Win 7 64-Bit on a moderately powered Laptop / Netbook?

EDIT: Did a bit more searching and found that Panda Security has a product called "Panda Internet Security 2012 for Netbooks. Anyone have experience with this one?

Thanks,
David Baldock

Avast is really light.

Looking now, it is using 3.2 k of resources and 0 cpu cycles.

i use it in conjunction with MS Security essentials.

Hey David - is this the model you ordered?
Amazon.com: ASUS Eee PC 1215B-PU17-BK 12.1-Inch Netbook (Black): Computer & Accessories Amazon.com: ASUS Eee PC 1215B-PU17-BK 12.1-Inch Netbook (Black): Computer & Accessories

If so, in the technical details, it says 4GB RAM max.

Yes, that's the one I've got, and am using to post this reply.

I did read the details on Amazon, and on the ASUS site: 1215B - Specs. After reading some Reviews on Amazon, and posts on several Forums, it appears that the hardware does support 8 GB of RAM. I actually installed (2x) 4 GB DDR3-1333 sticks of RAM in it yesterday, and it's running just fine. Here's a screen capture I did earlier this afternoon.

(NOTE - It still shows Win 7 Home Premium, because I'm going to do the Hard Drive swap next week when I get the Samsung Spinpoint M8 HN-M101MBB 1TB, 9.5mm thick drive (all the other brands of 1TB Laptop drives are 12.5mm - 15mm, too thick for my Netbook). Then I'll install Win 7 Ultimate 64-Bit on the new drive.)

Take Care,
David Baldock
