Mac OS/X Lion released - 07-20-2011, 09:11 AM

The official word from Nikon is that they plan to test certain applications but I have not seen the resulting information as of yet.

There are is a thread going on the Mac rumors web site about certain photo finishing software compatibility.

Nikon NX2 not compatible with Lion - MacRumors Forums

I, for one, will wait until my critical app is officially supported before upgrading my OS.

PS CS5 and Aperture 3 are compatible, according to RoaringApps - Mac OS X Lion Application Compatibility - RoaringApps. I'm in the process of downloading it now. Going to create a USB install disc and do a "clean" install (left-over from my WinDoze daze).

Just submitted a macbook pro order last night. I wonder which system will come installed?

Let us know how it is Scott. The full screen apps look cool. Not sure how I feel about the Mail changes. Looks close to the iPad Mail and I'm not that fond if that, compared to the desktop Mail.

I was on the AppStore this morning and there looks like there is a new version of Photoshop Elements available for ~$80. I presume it to be Lion compatible.

The +1 feature mentioned at work, the ability to resize the window from any corner. Well, it is about time.

Yep...it is. Adobe is venturing into the App Store also with their latest version of PSE.

Upgraded (or actually did a clean install - leftover from my WinDoze daze) - no problems.

Just to confirm, looks like CaptureNX2 uses Rosetta at least in part. Thinking about getting PSE again. I liked it back in 2005 but have not used it in a while. Hmm, decisions ,decisions.

Check out Aperture 3. That's become my primary app for photo editing. I still use PS CS5 for those things that Aperture can't do (text, masking, etc.), but I'm really liking Aperture 3. Heck...if it's good enough for Joe McNally, it's good enough for me.

The xrite ones have an update that removes the Rosetta requirement.

Thanks.

I guess Lion is going to cost me a lot more than $30.

Don't get your panties in a bunch until you actually try it.
Just because the system is updated doesn't mean all your hardware is junk.
There are reports from early adopters of Lion of scanners and other hardware/software working just fine. Although, not everything will be taking advantage of Lion's full capabilities just yet, like full screen apps for instance.
