Laptop recommendations, please

I have an Asus Eee PC netbook, which I bought primarily to download my CF cards after a day of shooting when I am on vacation. (I then transfer them to an external drive to protect myself from a hard drive crash, before I reformat the CF cards.)

My daughter wants a netbook for her birthday (in 3 weeks). Rather than buy her a new netbook, I've been considering upgrading mine, and giving her the old one.

I am considering laptops now, over netbooks, and I'd like to be able to do some photo processing on the road before I get home. Here are my basic requirements:

* Needs to be able to run Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom 3.
* Needs to be able to run Photomatix Pro.

It would be nice to find a deal on a decent laptop for ~$500-$600 or so -- the top-of-the-line netbooks were about $400.
