WD My Book - 08-15-2011, 04:35 PM

Just thought I'd share this:

I'm not really sure how other people archive their stuff, but mine was approaching the 800meg range and knew I had to do something to get it under control.

After looking around for awhile, I settled on the WD MY Book Essential at a VERY reasonable price of about $100 bucks for 2 TBs.

The ease of installation and speed of the transfer is incredible and it backed up my photos and documents quickly with no problems.

The only problem that I had was with the software that was included on the hard drive. I quickly deleted it as it wasn't really needed and I will be looking at other options, but for my needs, I don't need something to babysit me.

For the more professional photographers out there, the price is cheap and compact enough that you can have multiple devices so you can a prevent catastrophic losses from fire, theft, etc...

I use these as my external drives and have had really good luck *knock on wood*. I'm like you though...I don't use their software...just manually transfer the files.

I too never use the software that goes with the disks. I use a Lacie Rikiki 1TB, and its the best external storage Ive ever used - its ultra portable and encased in polished aluminium.
