Parallels Desktop Migrating Windows XP PC - 09-01-2011, 07:35 PM

I have a big problem and can't find a solution.

I have installed Parallels Desktop 6 on a Mac mini. Then I've tried to migrate a Windows XP system by using the provided Parallels Transporter Agent. However the migration always stops at 17% with an error message: "This migration could not be completed. An error occurred while migrating the disks."

I've spent hours already with a chat support but it seems they have no clue.

Did anybody experience anything like it or can give me any tips?

Steve, thanks for trying to help. I'm running one last step right now which will take a couple of hours. I'll get back if this doesn't work either.

I got it done. Obviously some files and clusters on the Windows machine were defective. i did a thorough chkdsk and a "cleanup" afterwards and this took care of the problem.
It seems like a wonder to me that everything is now running smoothly on the Mac. And even old windows problems seem to be gone.

Please let us know how you like the Mac Mini. Especially how it handles Photoshop. I'm looking to purchase one in the near future and any feedback/recommendations you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Robbie, I used the Mac mini over the last 8 months as a media server for Apple TVs. Now I've migrated my wife's PC to the Mac mini so it will be used as my wife's work horse AND as a media server at the same time. It's a fantastic little machine and very capable.
I'm not using it for PS though since I have my own 27" iMac.
