Question Video Card Recommendations? - 09-16-2011, 07:49 PM

I'm hoping to get some recommendations from the video card gurus.

It's time to upgrade my video cards. Currently I'm running two (Palit Radeon HD 3850 Super 512MB PCI Express 2.0 x16) video cards. These cards are about 3-4 years old and served me well but now I'm noticing problems.

So here is my dilemma. I need a video card or cards (two) to support three LCD monitors.
  • NEC MultiSync LCD 2490WUXI2
  • NEC MultiSync EA241WM
  • HP LCD1755 (VGA only)
My budget is about $160ish.

Here's what I will or won't be doing:
  • I will NOT be playing any video games
  • I will NOT be watching any Blu-ray
  • I will process photos (Photoshop CS5 and various plugins & Lightroom 3)
  • I will back up my purchased DVDs.
  • I will converting my DVDs to my iDevices (This is where I'm having problem with my current cards)
  • I will watch Netflix on my PC
  • I will watching media on my PC (avi files

My PC specs:
Mobo - Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P (version 1.0)
PSU - Corsair HX 620W
Proc - Intel Q8200
Memory - G. Skill 8GB DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)

I was looking at one of these two cards. Your thoughts?

SAPPHIRE 100315L Radeon HD 6850

HIS H467QR1GH Radeon HD 4670

HIS is pretty good. but an antiquated chipset.

Long and short of it is you don't need much.

1: Look at the power requirements of the new cards. Also look to make sure your power supply 1:has enough juice 2: has enough PCI-E power connectors.

You talking 160 each or total?

Total. I know it's not much of a budget but I don't need the latest & greatest tech.

I prefer the term "Value Shopper" .

Looks like a nice card. Thanks!

Question - Do I need a DVI to HDMI adapter? None of my monitors have an HDMI connection.
