Internal hard disk, external drive, removable drive, flash cards. What media has the problem?

Internal HD, results of testing is too many bad sectors. Drive is visable to the opsys and there are folders I can access. The folder that has all my photos in it wont open. I am currently running "Disktest" free recovery software and it has recovered some of the data. It still has about 36 hours left to complete the sector by sector recovery of the
2TB HD. After its done I plan on buying a recovery program that is more comprehensive and running it to see if it can do better. Then it will be time to consider a service if I cant get he majority of the data back.

Sounds like you better make a move and make it quick if sectors are failing.

I use 4 different one's, they all have merits and work for different tasks.

Stellar, Ontrack, Boomarang, and R-Tools

This bears repeating. Always back up your photos. I have four backup drives for my photos; in two Raid 1 arrays. If I was smart I would keep one in a bank vault and swap them out weekly.
