When you do this and you add a SSD, you want to put the OS and all programs on the SSD and put that where the current hard drive is, then put the traditional HD where the optical drive is. A lot of Macs have a problem booting from the optical drive.

And make sure you get an external enclosure for your optical drive, then you can still burn baby burn!
