Hard drive Mirror program - 08-24-2006, 10:50 AM

Just got a network hard drive for our laptop. We are event photographers and wanted to have the people view off the external hard drive and not our main laptop. This will also server as a back up for our laptop.

Looking for a mirror program. One that will mirror everything we do with the laptop hard drive to the external hard drive. I have heard of them, just didn't know where to find one or what one to get. This way when I move a image into a folder it will do the same on the external and I don't have to do backup or move it also on the external.

Any suggestions? And if anyone uses it, does it slow down your computer?

Thanks!

Two of the best for Windows, IMHO...
Best: SyncBack
http://www.2brightsparks.com/syncback/syncback-hub.html

Second best: FolderClone
http://folderclone.com

Both will slow down your computer to some degree when it's accessing the disk but there's no difference when it's not doing its thing. You can schedule the mirroring for off peak times.

That's what i have, just started using it last week. It comes with very advanced, fully manageble both destination and source options if you need it. Using profile and few steps setting it up but it have all the awesome features you ever needed. It give you two option for sync speed. One is super fast and another is bullet proof sync mode reading the hex code on file... 2nd option is slow if you have tons of big files.

I like the simulation mode, it will show the log files of changes before you go for a real run. Good program.

I remember looking at 30-35% cpu utilization and i have cs2 running at the same time with Canon DPP on 2nd monitor.

Thanks guys, now has anyone heard of this one? http://www.techsoftpl.com/backup/
When googling I found it. Didn't know if it was any good. With what you guys have said, I will probably use the Syncback one since I now have more information on them!
