wether it is sata or pata, it will go inside your computer case. Just make sure you have the appropriate controller connection available on the inside.
I did this with an old ATA 100 external drive. I ended up removing it because i bought another hard drive that was bigger.
Recently, I have been buying 80GB hard drives online, installing them in my external drive chasis, backing up photos/files to the hard drive, labelling the drive with what I put on it, then storing the drive back in the box in my closet. Coupled with DVD backups of files, I like to think of this method as working for me until i can afford a RAID setup :) |
