I'm thinking of moving from Spyder2Pro to X-Rite based on some reviews I've read and a tutorial that I've seen by Dave Cross (NAPP).

John T, did you ever switch ^? What do you think? Anyone else?

My Huey died and I need to replace ASAP, as I am working on a project that I need to finish. Am looking at the X-Rite and Spyder systems and want to order something today, so looking for input.

Yes, I did. However, I switched to the X-Rite Eye-One that is made to work specifically with my wide-gamut NEC display. World of difference between it and the Spyder that I was using. Very easy to set up, and I can specify things like white point, gamma, and luminance level, as advised by the lab I use, Mpix Pro. I'm glad I made the switch!

Thanks, John. The X-Rite is the one I am leaning to and I also use MpixPro, so good to know. Just hit the button - ordered that X-Rite and the upgrades to LR3 and CS5. Who knew March 1 was a gift giving occasion? LOL.

Lisa,
You will like LR3. The lens profiles and distortion control tools are really slick.

Wayne, thanks. Ordered upgrades from Amazon (yes, I could download, but I like having those disks there...just in case) and they should arrive tomorrow. I'm setting aside time tomorrow night to install the upgrades and set up my new calibration tool.

BTW, when you purchase the downloadable version from Adobe, they will sit in your account. I had to reload PS CS4 a couple of times and was able to quickly download it as well as copy and paste the S/N.

To stay on topic, I also enjoy the X-Rite kit, but purchased the Colormunki about a year ago. It's nice to a print and monitor match.

Wouldn't you know it .... was all set to install the upgrades to LR3, CS5 AND the X-Rite tonight and my cd drive is kaput. Can't install a damn thing until that is replaced. Guess I'll pick up an inexpensive external burner for now. Wanting to replace the computer anyway, but not this week.

When you're ready for a new computer, I highly recommend a custom-built system by Rich Reierson (TPF: Rson). He built mine, and it's a great machine.
