Getting them as close as I could, the Dell came in $800 more expensive than the MacPro, with 2.66GHz processors rather than 3.0GHz from Apple.
I configured mine at NewEgg, and came out about $500 cheaper than Apple. And that was with better HDD's, better video card, better DVD burner, etc....

Although I will admit that there was some assembly required.

A couple of thoughts on the issue of getting a second copy of PS. You can load PS on two computers as long as you don't use them both at the same time (I have no idea how they would know) which would make your decision a lot easier, if you already had CS2 or CS3.

Also, I thought that the files saved in PS could be opened in either PS or MAC, just like Adobe PageMaker files. If one had the $$, the perfect scenario would be to have the dual-boot set up with an external hard drive. I also must admit the Mac screens are really nice.

Photoshop and many Adobe products are well known to "phone home" (ie, send data in the background back to them via Internet). I block all the crap via my firewall. But something to be aware of..Many products do that btw... Not that it is acted upon by the companies many times. I will say this though...there was one particular manufacture of some networking software out there (probably still there) that made a decent product, but it was WAY overpriced. In turn, there were many hacked versions out there (PLANTED) that phoned home. This particular company would then contact the offending companies (we had a network engineer on staff that did this so he could play with it...STUPID)...

The company contacted us and sent us a copy of all kinds of info on the machine that it was run on.. Including usernames, passwords, IP addresses, etc..
We had to pay $10,000 for the license although "we" never even used the product. That engineer is no longer with our company.
