Thomas,

I have had lots of macs and love them.. Let me try to help just a little..

The 12 inch has a very small screen and would not really be that good for photo use, and has the older technology on the viewing screen.

They were made especially for people who travel a lot and actually there were a lot of photographers that used them in the field to send pics back to papers and the like. They worked fine for that if you didn't have to adjust the photos on it.

One of our photogs who had one took it to Iraq and it worked fine but he was glad to get the 15 inch when he got back so he could see the photos better. If it was owned by some one like that it probably has been well used and could have some travel abuse to look out for.

It also seems to be a little short on ram for photoshop or photo use.

That being said, if it works and boots up ok, it does have the airport extreme card and should be a great little road machine to surf the internet and the like. You should be able to get 350$ use out of it.

However it will just make you want a newer and larger powerbook thats faster and has a better screen and more ram and bigger hard drive and will end up costing you close to 3000 in the end.

Milton

If using for web browsing and business trips this may work (my wife loves hers), but, as mentioned above, for photos you'll be tapping your fingers alot. Should max out the ram if you do get it. We're planning on getting the new iMac after Leopard comes out.

Keep in mind that it also may not have any usb 2.0 ports on it -- they may all be 1.1. If that is the case, then transfering photos onto the thing will be painfully slow. I have a g4 14" that only has usb1.1 on it, and the fact that there is not a pcmcia slot on the thing limits the upgradeability on the thing.

Oh Jesus.

Bitch, whine, snivel, it's not the newest, hot roddest 'Book on the planet.

To Thomas - I'll tell ya what...If you don't want it, I DO. ESPECIALLY because it's a 12 inch, and ESPECIALLY because it's a G4.
