Dell Network Assistant? - 10-27-2007, 11:17 PM

Using my laptop this evening and the little network assistant thing Dell put on here pops up and says my 90 day trial version has expired. I didn't even know it was a trial version much less 90 days.

I'll have to purchase it if I need it but my question is, do I need it? I'm hooked up to the internet right now on my wireless connection. I was just surprised to have this trial version thing pop up. Of course at the time it did, I had lost internet connection on my DSL modem so I thought it also meant my wireless internet was gone. If I need to purchase it, I will but thought I'd get some input from the computer experts on here first.

I just got a dell as well and didn't know - so I googled it...

Designed specifically for users of Dell systems, Dell Network Assistant helps simplify the set-up, monitoring, troubleshooting, and repair of your network. Purchase the full version for a one-time fee and get the tools you need to efficiently manage your networks and networked devices.

Dell Network Assistant Benefits
  • Provides consolidated setup, alerting, and device status
  • Simplifies keeping track of networked devices by providing visual display of network status
  • Proactively pinpoints, troubleshoots and helps repair network problems
  • Offers tutorials, setup wizards and FAQs to enhance understanding of networking principles

I'd say you probably really don't need it - unless you want the extra tech support

Dell also has an online chat tech support so you probably don't need it
I used them a few days ago for a desktop issue and they were very helpful.....and free
