I found this very interesting. Not wanting to start a debate again, but listen to the whole thing or read the text in the article. Wait for the end and see if you agree with the conclusion...

I, too, agree with the conclusion. For that matter, anything I choose to use (Ford truck, Canon gear, whatever) doesn't define who I am. My identity comes from elsewhere.

What exactly was the interesting part? Sounds like more Mac fluff to me.

PC: Um, where were we? Oh. We're both just machines. We may look different, and we may do some things differently, but we're still just machines. We can be a big part of your life, but what computer you buy doesn't have anything to do with what kind of person you are. We're just computers, Jace. We're ways to get things done. It's silly to make us into anything more than that.

And the only problem with that is that most brand advertising depends on people believing the exact opposite. Buying something makes you the kind of person who buys that thing. Isn't that the whole mystique behind ads for lots and lots of upscale products, from liquor to cigars to coffee to luxury cars, etc...
