To be fair until recently (past 2-3 years) there was a significant difference in Mac and PC architecture. I believe differentiation was made between the x86 architecture and the PPC (IBM Power PC) / previous processor architectures that Apple used in their product.

Of course, the OS was built on top of the architectures, so that's the main visibility from a consumer perspective.

Pity, CS4 is still 32 bits on OS X but ironically supports 64 bits on Windows. Kinda suks juicing up all that memory slots if one were to get it for Photoshop works.

I just bought a 17" Macbook Pro. Been on PC's my whole life. I run LR2 and CS4 and not before too long NX2. I'm very happy with this well thought out machine. It's fast, multitasks well, and I'm liking the simple fact there is an alternative to Windows and the ever increasing overhead in the Windows OS. The Mac OS runs well and can you believe it, it actually goes in and out of sleep mode without issue. You'd think Windows would have mastered that seeing as how long portable computers have been around.

I got the matte screen. Glossy would drive me nutz (glare from light). If you don't like the screens though you can always hook up an external monitor for editing or on the laptop screen on the road. Works very well.

I would have opted for an iMac but I have a need to be portable. I will tell you there are bags to carry 20 and 24 inch iMacs with you. Not sure why you would but they are out there.

I have a 3+ Ghz I-Mac with 4gb of RAM as well as a 15-inch Mac Book Pro. It has absolutley changed the way I work for the better and I'll never switch back to a PC.

I switched last June after Vista crashed on me for the second time in a year. No issues with the Macs so far.

Thanks,

RG
