Thermaltake BlacX
Just connect, and stick your bare 3 1/2" or 2 1/2" SATA HDD into the slot, start the data transfer. Thats It!
And I have found that the bare 3 1/2 inch drives will fit nicely in an old VHS tape jacket for storage.

great idea
but, always a but, watch for heat buildup in the drive and the connect point. I read some reviews where the Vantec models were frying drives, never about Thermaltake. just looked on Tiger Direct and the Vantec's are no longer listed.

Just think this of as a card reader, only for hard drives. That is basically what it is.

This seems to be very well constructed, and is heaver than it looks.
The research I did before purchasing did not reveal any problems as suggested. It was highly rated in the user reviews I saw. Just properly seat the drive in the reader and connection be a non issue.

And be extremely careful when moving the hard drive around. I've accidentally knocked a capacitor off the exposed circuit board on a hard drive before. That didn't turn out well.
