Santa says my wife needs a new monitor. Her crummy old HP CRT needs to go.
She uses it for Photoshop, MS Office, and Internet.
So I am looking for what to get. Not wanting the low end stuff, but Santa can't afford the high end either. So something somewhere in the middle.

What do you have that you're happy with?

Not knowing what is in your/Sants'a range, I will say that I really like my HP LP2465 (24 inch LCD monitor). It calibrates well (i.e. the display matches well with the prints).

I have an Eizo that is probably too much but I also have a Samsung 244T that is real nice for considerably less and the performance is very good. Really need a price range and size are your going to get all kinds of suggestion.

I am using two Dell's and quite happy with them. They are bright, but once calibrated do a very good job. They are the older 2405 series...24"
I believe they are using Samsung components...similar to the Apple Cinema Displays..

I'm using two HP w2207h series monitors and I have been very happy with them. They have a very very wide range of height adjustment which is really nice and something a lot of others don't offer and they are really pretty cheap. They have a good set of adjustments as far as WB, RGB and brightness/contrast for calibration. They should be around 300 or so I would guess.

I'm using a Dell 20" Ultrasharp as my primary display and a Dell 15" Ultrasharp. No real reason for having displays of 2 different sizes other than the fact that the 15" was a spare and I decided to put it to use. The smaller display is where I locate all of my palettes in Photoshop leaving the main screen for the image only. I'll also run my various media players from the smaller screen.

I'm using a Viewsonic nx2232 22" HDTV/monitor for my 8-year-old desktop, Devon DVD, satellite, and VCR.

That's what I really wanted. All kinds of suggestions.
She has room, so I was curious what is a commonly used size these days. I guess 22 and 24 must be the most popular.
I think a thousand would be absolutely tops but was hoping for something more in the $500 range. But something with very good color and resolution.

I would love an Ezio, but they ARE the top of the line. In your opinion, Are the lower end Ezio's still superior to the better versions of the Samsung, LG, HP and Dells?

Dell 2407. Lots of space. I also use a 22 inch, and the price on those is far lower. If I was buying one today I would get another 22 inch.

I have that same HP at work. I haven't done much editing on it since the photo thing is not my actual job, but it is great for viewing.

Dell 20" LCD. It calibrates well, but I would like something larger with more sophisticated controls.

I use a 24" LG Flatron Wide. It calibrates well and lets me see verticals well. Price was below $400.

I really didn't see that much difference in the lower priced Eizo and say a Samsung. In fact they used a Samsung panel as does Dell in most of their units. Another really good one is NEC.

Up until a couple weeks ago I was using an Eizo CG-21 and a 30" Cinema Display. Then I swapped the Eizo to the PC and moved its 30" CD to the Mac, so now I'm using two 30" CDs. I'll end up setting up one of the Samsung 213Ts alongside the Eizo (unless I decide to just get rid of the PCs totally, VMWare Fusion seems to be working pretty well...)
