Iphone+Itunes+Vista = What? Chime In... - 01-16-2009, 06:11 PM

My wife just got a new Pink Sony Vaio Laptop, as an early Valentine gift....
I have not installed her Iphone on it yet, because I have heard multiple things about it crashing your PC, Laptop or Itunes on Vista... I just don't know.....
Has anyone installed it on vista or have you heard what to do or not to do?
If I have to I will install it on my Mac, but it will be easier to do it on her laptop..

thanks,
angel m. leal jr.

I have it on my home built PC with Vista running 64 bit iTunes and I haven't had any issues at all. Works fine.

I haven't had any problems with my iPhone or iTunes on XP, Vista x32, Server 2008 x64, or Windows 7 x64 . I've installed it on my laptop with Vista 32 bit and it works fine.

I didn't do anything special. You might make sure your Vista has all of the latest updates applied, and your iTunes is at the latest release.

iPhone + iTunes + Windows = Brick.

For me, anyway. I have XP Home on my PC, and sometimes when I try to sync it it errors, and I have to restore, which completely makes the phone a paperweight. I have to go over to my brothers house (who has a mac G5) and restore. Then re-sync on my computer. PITA!

sounds more like a case of "you're doing it wrong"

millions of people are syncing with windows machines. Heck I just did the update to 2.2.1 firmware on a Windows XP SP3 machine. I've synced a couple of times in the past couple of weeks updating photos and videos. My wife syncs via her pc which is also running XP. No problems.

Oh, it's a good 'ol case of 'FAIL' alright. Somethings effed up on my machine. Before I restored my HD it wouldn't even sync without locking the phone, but now after the computer restore at least it syncs. I think it's a software conflict on my PC. I'll be kissing that goodbye though as I have a MBP on the way.

Should work fine, but I can't find the option to disable auto-update from Apple. It is pretty annoying.

First Rule of Thumb: Throw away any CD's you got with the Items.

download the latest version of Itunes and anything else.

I am using Itunes on Vista64 with no issue.
