Best HDR help book to buy? - 04-13-2009, 01:56 PM

There are three books on Amazon (that I could find) devoted to HDR and I'd like to get one. Can anyone recommend which of these is the best for a beginner to this method:

Practical HDRI: High Dynamic Range Imaging for Photographers
by Jack Howard

The HDRI Handbook: High Dynamic Range Imaging for Photographers and CG Artists +DVD
by Christian Bloch

HDR and Beyond in Adobe Photoshop CS4: Enter the next dimension of imaging with a pioneering fusion of Photoshop, High Dynamic Range, and more (Voices That Matter)
by Ben Willmore

one that speaks specifically to the particular editor you use would seem more helpful.

Ben Willmore is coming out with one. I took his Photoshop seminar when it was here in Houston last month. Great stuff!

He also has a DVD available

Bloch's book is very good and describes strength and weaknesses of various HDR formats and software.

Why not read HDR tutorials that are free...books don't offer that much...

Here's a good one: http://www.stuckincustoms.com/hdr-tutorial/

HDR Books - 04-28-2009, 06:45 PM

I recently bought two and they both have merits. Each one explain workflows for several of the popular HDR programs. The best tip that I have gotten from them is to combine/pre-process using the HDR software of your choice and then use Photoshop on the resulting tiff image for color enhancemnt and curves.

Practical HDRI by Jack Howard
Mastering HDR Photography by Michael Freeman

I agree with Charles Putnam... Ben Willmore......his seminar in Dallas was very, very good... amazing stuff, but he uses a third party software. ..... check out his website
