Upgrade Completion? - 01-01-2010, 10:53 AM

Any news on when we may be able to get back into our sites? Mine still says the username/password not recognized -- I'm assuming this is because of the server upgrade.

I was hoping to take advantage of this slow time by updating my website...

Is anyone else with their site hosted by CMD having issues getting into the admin portion? Or is my issue not related to the upgrade?

I am having the same issue and emailed them last night. The original email I received stated they will let us know when the upgrade is complete. My inquiry asked for an update.

Thanks, Scott. I'm glad to hear it's not just me. I sent an email earlier this morning asking for an update as well.

Server Switch - 01-04-2010, 10:23 AM

As some of you may be aware, the server migration process has taken a little longer than expected. This has not affected everyone, but a number have had their websites frozen to prevent any alterations done to sites that would then not be saved. This process is expected to be completed by Wednesday this week. We are working as hard as we can to complete the process and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused. We will be returning to our normal high service very soon and thank you for your patience.

Yours sincerely
CMD team

Recent Server Issues - 01-06-2010, 10:07 AM

Hi Everyone, we just want to write in and apologize for the server downtime
that was experienced by a number of our clients this week and in the recent past.

Explanation of recent Server Issues:
1) One of our older servers has been giving us problems over the past few
months so we decided to upgrade it.

2) The upgrade was scheduled to happen before the New Year and was
planned to occur seamlessly with no downtime at all.

3) As we started the migration process from the old server to a new server,
our programming team ran into some unexpected issues, which caused some
of our clients downtime.
Out of 2000+ client migrations, unfortunately around 100 people were affected.

4) We've spent the last few days diligently working on resolving all issues
with each client individually and because of the high volume of questions it
created a big delay in the time it took us to answer our support emails.

Customer Support Delays:
We work hard on our support department and during normal times our
support team is efficient and effective. We often get good reviews
and comments from clients so we don't see a problem in the support area.

However when there is a problem with a server, we get flooded with
support requests and questions. During a time like this we dedicate as many
resources as possible to the support team but it does create a delay in
answers. We do review every question with care and answer ASAP.

Benefits to this Server Upgrade:
This server upgrade will provide more stability for the clients that were on
our old server. The older server ran flawlessly for years but issues during
these last few months have required us to upgrade.

With newer technology everything will also be more efficient and cost
effective than before also. We're even passing the savings to our clients as
we've recently lowered our yearly hosting fees.

We're very concerned with the full satisfaction of each and every one of
our clients and work hard to keep high levels of satisfaction. The entire
CMD team sincerely apologizes for any inconveniences and delays
caused by our unexpected technical problems.

Sorry to be a bother...

Does this mean all issues are resolved? Because I can now get into my site, but my blog has disappeared from the web (everything is intact and looks fine in the admin mode, but the actual website is blank)....

Server Update Information - 01-06-2010, 12:06 PM

Hi Deb,

We have server update information located on our blog and I'll paste that info here also. It should help with your blog. Thanks again for your patience!!!

The current status is that all known website issues have now been corrected!

There are however still some clients experiencing Blog problems that will have to be corrected on an individual basis. If you are having a problem with your Blog appearing please try the following procedure. Otherwise, you can contact us at support@cmdwebsites.com and we’ll look into the issue for you.

SUGGESTED BLOG FIX:

If you are getting a blank white page, please try logging into your blogs admin ([yoursite]/blog/wp-admin) and activating a theme. Sometimes during upgrades a default theme is not selected, generating a blank screen with no errors.

If that doesn’t help, try selecting the default Word Press theme and disabling any plugins. This should help to troubleshoot which plugin or theme is causing the trouble, from there we can get your blog up and running.

This has been a disaster for many people. The switch from one server to another has completely botched numerous blogs that I've spent hours on the phone with clients about. Databases have been changed, information's been lost, blogs are unavailable, people are being locked out of their blogs without being told, and CMD doesn't provide any kind of back-end access to server-side files to take care of things to make it easier.

I'm not a CMD client, thank goodness, but many of my clients are...and soon will most likely be former clients. This was not handled properly at all.

Between TPF and Digital Wedding Forum, the stories aren't looking very good. Richard, I emailed the support line this evening because my website is still down. At a time of the year when traffic is historically the highest for portrait and wedding photographers, I am tremendously concerned about the lack of hits I am getting. I have received emails from family members and potential clients I've directed to the site stating that they cannot get access. Because of the longevity of this issue, I now have the concern that CMD is costing me money.

We want to report that we'll be working through the weekend to resolve any remaining issues related to our recent server migration. If anyone has contacted support and not heard back yet it's because of the volume of questions and requests. We are very concerned about each client and will work until all issues are all solved.

I think the damage has been done. One of my clients is now on four days without her blog. She's been locked out and no matter how many e-mails she sends, the only words she hears are: "we're working on it." Her clients are calling her repeatedly through the day wanting to see their sneak peeks and she's got no answer for them.

We'd already be in the process of moving her hosting if she could get someone at CMD to answer their phone and face this problem head-on. I'll be recommending future clients of mine to never host with CMD. They can buy the templates, as they seem to be okay, but CMD won't be getting any hosting business or recommendations from me.

In the on going saga with CMD, my website has now been down for eight days. I have also lost email access. I have gotten calls from past clients and prospective clients letting me know that emails are bouncing back and they cannot view the site.

I left three messages for CMD today: one in the early morning, one at mid-day and I just left another. No replies whatsoever.

I'll continue to report my experience so inquiring photographers can draw their own conclusions on whether or not to conduct business with CMD.

I use CMD (and have been for quite some time) and happy with their service. During the conversions, my admin portal was disabled, but I lost nothing and once moved to new server, everything is working fine.

FWIW..Just my personal experience...
