Creativity Exercise #15: Backyard Safari - 06-01-2006, 10:00 AM

Creativity Exercise #15: Backyard Safari

This one should be fun.

I've seen this exercise done a number of times and it's always interesting to see the results. Walk out into your backyard/front yard/local park/parking lot...whatever, just someplace close to home.

1. Pick a starting point.
2. Take 10 steps forward.
3. Take 2 steps to the left.
4. Put your arms straight out and do one rotation.

That is your shooting circle. You need to shoot at least 10 shots from that spot with whatever gear you brought with you. You can't move outside that little circle. Once you've completed the exercise, post your favorite shots. Exercise your photographic vision to make the uninteresting interesting.

**Normally I request only basic photo editing, but this time you can do whatever editing you want.

**Each participant can post as many shots as they like, but try not to go crazy.

Next Exercise: 07-01-2006

Steve, I guess I'll get this started. These were taken in my backyard this evening from within my "circle".

Rings

Steps

Old Ladder

Bird Bath

Wind Chimes

Cool Carlos. These are great and a good example of what you can shoot by just stepping outside your back door.

I tried this exercise tonight... I wanted to take more pictures, but only took a few pictures because the mosquitoes were extra hungry tonight! I had to go back inside... :

Thought I'd give this a shot as a newbie, sounded like a fun idea! Out of about 25 pictures, I only really liked 3 of them...

C&C welcome!

This sounds like a really fun idea, but unfortunately I live in an apartment complex. I'm pretty much surrounded by several acres of asphalt. I've walked around the complex probably 20 different times taking random pics in all the hard to reach places but there is nothing interesting left, haha... I've been everywhere already. Maybe I'll go to my parents' house and try it there.

Hey Jezebel why not go to your favorite spot in town and do it?

I can't really do this right now b/c my camera's in the shop, but I did take 10 steps from my back door and 2 steps left to make sure I took this in that spot. :)
