Creativity Exercise #26: The Color Shift

Sorry, been a way for a bit. Been dealing with some grown-up things.

Anyway, Let's play with some color filters. The idea is to use a color filter, either glass, plastic film, or even Photoshop to tone your final image. Impart some mood with color.

Happy Shooting

I used the built in color correction tool on the D40. This gets to be fun at times. So I shifted in the same direction as the plant...

we took this just up the road, my parents collect photos of abondon churches, so i took this for their collection then added the filter and a simple spotlight lighting effect in photoshop to make it more dramatic and just to darken out the edges a little bit...

I'm not sure if there is a date attached to these creativity exercises, but here is an image I took this week when I couldn't sleep.

Ever-Kleen Motel in San Antonio - 07-14-2009, 02:32 AM

I know this is an old post, but I'm up late and looking for entertainment! I took this shot in June when The Boy and I were in San Antonio. Would have gotten a shot sans bus stop sign, but The Boy didn't like that part of town and refused to pull over, so it was taken out of the truck window at 5mph.

It looked plenty raunchy the way it was, but then I started thinking about all the debauchery that must take place in such a dive. I started wondering about what those people were doing, and how they might see the sign upon checking in or out. That's why I filtered it red.

Under what influences do you think someone might be for them to view the sign like this? What might have just occurred in their life to alter their vision to make them literally see red?

Nice of you to do so. What the heck, I'll add one, too. The grit and earth around the entrance to the Longhorn Caves in Hill Country, Texas
