After reading Captain Tom's post on today's day game I had to venture out and hang with the Cats for a little while. What a beautiful day for a ballgame!!
Anyway, it was full of action complete with a beaning and bench clearing, animated discussion. It was also a very good chance to try some new shots.
All taken with a D300 and 70-200VR:
So here's how it starts out: First, the batter gets beaned (this is the ball dropping after hitting him):
The benches clear and the Cats coach gets into it with Tiny here...
And here's the coach getting ejected while the others watch on. Tiny's hidden behind the tall Cats player:
Here's an experiment I did trying to use the batter/ump to frame the pitcher:
Here's on I like (but a total failure as a sports image) because of the bat splintering. You can see the ball just leaving the frame to the left...
He was safe:
Another one I like because you can see the ball through the action while viewing the pitcher, batter, ump and catcher. Fun but still a failure.
Gotta like the gull-wing throw:
Got lots of great action today. A very fun ballpark to shoot at!!
