Addison Storm Shots - 06-11-2009, 08:58 AM

Just a couple of "sky fishing" shots from my balcony.. I thought about going up to the car park, but it was uncovered at the top.. and I thought that would *probably* be a bad idea.

Awesome shots Daylon. Everytime I see a storm like this I want to get some of those great lightning shots...I'm just never in the right place at the right time to do it.

Wow. I knew it stormed like crazy, but we didn't see lightning like that down in East Dallas.

A lot of trees down all over Old East Dallas and the WhiteRock Lake area, lake is starting to spread over to lawther and flood along the sides as it always does after heavy rain. They think some areas had close to 7 inches since 7pm last night. Power out all over the place.

Cool.. I shot some video of the storm with the 5D2 from my garage here in Arlington.. Haven't viewed it yet. We didn't get hit that hard, so most was off in the distance...It was an interesting experiment regardless.

Nice shots....

Generally I use 20-30 second exposures, manual focus set to infinity, f18 or so on a tripod.

Point at a patch of flashy sky and repeat as necessary.

WOW, that 2nd shot is really stunning! I haven't got the nerve to try a lightning photo YET.
