Prairie Creek Waterfalls (Richardson) - UPDATE - 06-12-2009, 01:58 PM

The large tree by the waterfalls has been taken out by the recent storm. There is yellow tape all around preventing access to the waterfalls for photos. Also FYI - The clean up crew is making a "muddy" mess as well.

The leaning tree survived.

EDIT: 7/1/09 my apologies -

This is actually on W Prairie Creek Dr. My apologies for using the wrong name.

Man...that sucks! I live right around the corner from there and love that location. It's a very popular photo spot...especially on the weekends.

I was just out there Saturday about 10. Without the tree, there's no good shade. If you want some of that, you will have to get there around 8 AM or late in the day. It's still a great spot, you just have to be more creative. It's pretty cleaned up now. They have some tape up, but you can still get down by the stream and the waterfall on the side. I'm going to miss that tree.

Jonathan,

My mistake, this is actually on W Prairie Creek Dr:

Waterfalls are on W Prairie Creek Dr, between Forest Park Dr and Fall Creek Dr.

Here's a google link:

I was just there today and it looks TERRIBLE! There were two crane-type bulldozer things down there, mounds of dirt everywhere, and about half a dozen workers...plus, there was no sign of any waterflow. I guess they're trying to redesign or clean it up or something. Regardless, I'd wait awhile to check it out.

Now, this was my first time ever there, so I could be mistaken on it's location, but all this mess was right by/under the walking bridge that goes over the creek, right at Forest Park Dr.

Anyone been back lately? This is on my list for possible locations for an upcoming shoot. Thankfully I've got a long list, but this one would be nice.

There's still some remnants of construction down by the bridge last time I was there, but the waterfall area looks really good.

I went to shoot there today not knowing about the tree having been destroyed. It took a min for me to figure out why it looked so different. It was very difficult to shoot there now because so much of the "sitting space" has been filled in and with the added disadvantage of fall and the lack of leaves for shade it would appear that showing up there any time of day is not the wonderful option it once was. Sad sad sad... :( I wish they had planted another tree rather than filling it in with stone.
