Dallas area wedding locations - 06-15-2009, 03:34 PM

I've checked the recent posts and haven't found an answer and thought some of you wedding photographers might have a suggestion.

I have a friend getting married in September (it's late I know) and is looking for a venue. It's supposed to be small (less than 75) and I want to know your suggestions? You've been there...any chapels or small churches you'd recommend? She doesn't want to have it at her church so that she can keep it small an intimate. If she has it at her church she feels she'd have to invite the entire congregation and that's too many.

Somewhere in the North Dallas area is preferrable as well as the venue having an area for a small reception.

if she is willing to consider Denton then on the TWU campus is a small but very nice chapel called Little Chapel-in-the-Woods. I shot a wedding there once in the 80's and was at a wedding photo shoot there last year. Here is the link http://www.twu.edu/twunews/media_kit/little-chapel.htm from a photography standpoint it is the poster child for low lighting

Larry's not kidding about the Little Chapel being a cave!

Consider a bed-and-breakfast or something along those lines. I shot a wedding at one in an old house in Fort Worth last year and not only was it beautiful and intimate, the mature trees provided beautiful light, even in mid-afternoon.

I didn't know this place was there, but have you seen the Lebanon Baptist Church building at the Frisco Heritage Center? It's an old church moved to the historical park. The few pictures I've seen of the interior seems like it would be great for photos. Not necessarily a full wedding photos, but for bridals or portraits.

Is this the cave you are referring to?

The Aldredge House on Swiss is wonderful, but it books pretty quickly, so odds are it is not available in September. We had our reception there - just about 100 people and I loved it. I've also been to several small weddings there and it can nicely accommodate a small wedding as well.

In downtown Frisco, at the Heritage Museum is a great restored old Baptist Church. It is very quaint and would hold 100 or so.

Call the city of Frisco for more info.
