14651 N Dallas Tollway

If you know the area, it's the building complex next to and behind Lawry's Restaurant. Lawry's is the building on the access road. The parking garages are:

a. Directly south of the Lawry's rear parking lot
b. Directly west of the Lawry's rear parking lot

Aeroplane pictures were taken at 1/60 with a 70-200 + 1.4x. No 1.4x for the fireworks photo.

P51, Wildcat and Corsair

Not the best picture but it's a Corsair so it gets posted.

First time I've photographed an P51 digitally. Wasn't able to get a good in-the-air one.

My best fireworks photo, 90 second clone job to make the bottom of the picture black except for the tail of the shell. One of these years I'll get a good firework photo.

Addision is over but check the calendar for 7 different dallas area activities. Don't forget LoneStar Park is having fire works too.

What I would really like to find is a small town doing some fireworks tonight.

When I was little my grandparents would take me to a little town in Missouri called Willard which is just outside of Springfield. The fireworks were so close that you could lay in the field on a blanket and just look straight up. They were going off right on top of the crowd.
Not to mention the lack of light pollution.

Is there anywhere like that around DFW?

Oh my God, Todd. Talk about a small world. My family owned a farm just outside Willard! My parents grew up in Buffalo and Springfield. We also had a grocery store in Fairplay!

I would try Richardson for Fireworks. It has a small feel to it. Bigger than Willard but still small.

So tell me I wasn't just hallucinating it, and that the fireworks there really were that good.

I've actually thought of driving up there one of these years...

Don't laugh. I NEVER saw a city display until I was in my late teens. Dad and my brothers always bought fireworks and we would shoot them off by the river on our property.

My friend and his parents would go out to his uncles to set of fireworks.
I still remember the year he found a stick of dynamite and set it off.

My wife doesn't understand how I've managed to live so long with all the REALLY STUPID stuff I've done in my life. LOL

I'm with you, by the time they get the bomber up the iso is at 1600 just to shot at 1/60. This time I went up next to the fence. Someone(s) brought their pusher rv and staked out a 75' x 100' claim so they could play horseshoes. Seemed about right since they were flying an Aggie flag.

I'll ignore the Aggie comment for now

Here are a few from the parking garage south of the airport.

Hey Paul, I recognize the angle. Were you on top of the parking garage just west of Lawry's. That's where I was. I got a pretty interesting shot before everything started, then got some good shots once things got going.
