I'm going. My company is located just a little south of the fireworks between Beltline and Spring Valley, on the Tollway service road. We usually go to the top of our garage to watch the show. Not a bad view. I got these shots from that location. http://www.flickr.com/photos/playbak...7600661214862/
There's no security check and there are two tall garages where I'm at. Crowds aren't very big either. Just a thought.

Terry and I are most likely going. Just can't decide where we want to park ourselves.

Where we were last year was nice, but I understand there is construction on the site now.
I want to be somewhere on the west side so the sun will be to my back for the airshow.

Drove by the "normal" Davidtxs site and as mentioned here the site is 80% smaller then last year. It's still usable provided one arrives at Davidtxs time.

It's not very crowded. About a half hour before the fireworks start would do. I wasn't there for the air show, but the landing pattern is literally right over our building and the glide path puts them about pretty darn close to the ground

Here's the link to the map. If you look at the sat picuture, you'll see the two garages. The pictures I took were from the one on the left. The one on the right is much taller, but I haven't been over there. http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en...04431&t=h&z=18

I shot them with the Nikon 18-200, mostly in the 100 - 170mm range. Wide wasn't working for me at that angle. I would say we're about 5 blocks south of Beltline. At 18mm, I would have picked up all of North Addison

I'm having trouble seeing the two garages on the sat image. Can you possibly clarify what I should be looking at? Or could you provide an address for each garage and/or directions on where to get in?
Thanks! | | | |

I'm going to use David's old spot, it's almost perfect for watching the airplanes. May be the last year it's usable.
The year they shot them off at Labor day (due to a rain out) I set up camp here. http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UT...4806dc3a38f0e8
Haven't been back there so don't know if the parking lot is roped off (or the lot to the north is still bare) but one could get some wide shot from there. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
