Fireworks @ the Ballpark

This is a discussion on Fireworks @ the Ballpark within the Dallas / Fort Worth forums, part of the Texas category; I like the color in the first and the composition in the second. Great job Jake!...

Thanks Roy!
Well the truth is the first shot had the reflection also. But I was playing with my GND filters and holding them in front of the lens and somehow my finger ended up blocking half of refection on the bottom right of the frame.
The good new is I noticed it right away. I had the filter holder with me, but the fireworks started right when I got into place, so I didn't take the time to put it on.
Also the filters really helped hide the smoke from being lit while still being able to expose for the Ballpark. At least I think it did, I need to do some more controlled testing to make sure it's not just in my head that it helped.
Here are 2 more shots.

Looks like I got a little aggressive on the shadow and highlight tool on one of those shots..

They look good. Those are definitely the second best ever firework shots I've seen taken at the ballpark. One of my peers at the DMN had access to the field and bullpen when he got my fav shot, but he had special media access to get his angle.

Thanks Andrew and Jason.

Yeah, from the bullpen would be a very cool angle.
Or from right behind home plate with an ultra wide lens.

Jake, those are the best Metroplex fireworks shots I've seen - I absolutely LOVE having reference buildings/objects in the frame and the Ballpark is a winner. I know where I'm going to shoot fireworks next year. :)

So what GND did you use - hard/soft edge, 2 stop/3 stop/??? I think it's a brilliant idea to use the GND to reduce the smoke from the fireworks.

Next year, I bet Texas Stadium might just be the place to be. They'll probably have a big July 4th concert with fireworks after.

Thanks John!

I was using a 3 hard and a 2 soft, but I don't remember which one for each picture.
Next year I will just use the 2 soft so I know for sure
