Swan Court Pond Repair to Begin - 07-07-2009, 07:48 AM

Good news. I just got notice that the ponds at the Pallisades II bldg where the Swan Court Restaurant is located (2435 N. Central, Richardson, TX) received approval to start repairs on their ponds. All ponds will be drained into the lower pond starting 7/15 and the projected completion date is the end of August. Once completed, the waterfalls and streams will be back in operation.

If you didn't know, Swan Court is leaving this building effective 7/24 (unless the pond repair changes their mind). They are moving to the old Bennigans buidling north on Hwy 75, just south of Parker (I think).

I wonder if the wedding events will still be there?

My sister used to work at that Bennigans (it pretty much ruined her life for awhile). Hope the new tenants can make it a better place.

All wedding events were canceled there. I heard they were canceled through next year. One of my brides was supposed to have her reception there at the beginning of Aug, and they had to scramble to find a new place.

As somebody else eluded, Swan Court moved and has opened in the old Steak & Ale building which is right next to the still vacant Bennigans building. I'm wondering why they decided to move... lease cost, location, ...? From the outside anyway, the old Steak & Ale building doesn't look that classy and befitting of Swan Court. I haven't been inside yet to see how they've improved the interior.

I shot a wedding there a few months ago and felt so bad for the lady running the place. The property management said that they didn't want to repair the ponds and it was WAY too expensive (hundreds of thousands if I remember correctly) for the Swan Court people to pay out of their own pocket. Unfortunately, the ponds operationality was not included in the lease agreement, so they got screwed when the building managers declined to repair it. Swan Court was having to give away free stuff and partial refunds because of it. Hope it works out for them at the new location.

So I'm guessing no more weddings. The steak and Ale building wouldn't be the best place for a wedding. Sad Swan Court was a good place to shoot.

They were not getting enough business, it was either move or close.
