Good is usually not free, and free is usually not good.

What about the Gaylord Texan. It's indoors, but outdoors :0 Not sure of a cost or anything. trac76002 added 0 Minutes and 44 Seconds later...Double Post Merged Below
Or you could try the Cotton Mill in McKinney. It's $50/hr 2 hour min.

(gets up on soapbox) I'm not directing this to any forum member in particular, but if you present yourself to the public as a professional photographer then paying for studio time or renting or paying the appropriate fee at any private venue is just part of doing business. You pay it gladly and you collect it from your client. Otherwise in my opinion you are just a cheapskate amateur masquerading as a professional. Just pay the fee and quit whining. (gets down off of soapbox)

Can you give the benefit of the doubt at least? Maybe she's trying to keep the cost down for her client.
Not everyone is a "cheapskate amateur masquerading as a professional" just because they're looking to save a couple of bucks, especially in this wonderful economy of ours.
Some of you "established" guys need to get off your high horse. Everyone has to start somewhere.

The Marriott Solana in Westlake is the only place I can think of locally that is both nice and free (or at least used to be). You need to set up with management in advance, though. They have some really great backdrops that are VASTLY different in each area - both outside and inside.

Yes, Marriott Solana is free and very nice, modern with great colors. Also, I have shot at places like NYLO, Mansions on Turtle Creek, Melrose Hotel, and the Stonebriar Country Club. My clients have talked the places into letting us shoot there for free. As far as Stonebriar, my clients belong to a country club in S.A. They were talking about having reciprocal privileges at Brookhaven. I'm not that fond of the atmosphere at Brookhaven, but having been a member there, I knew that we were part of Club Corp which gave us privileges at other clubs. Sure enough, they had privileges at Stonebriar, and we get to shoot there free. Have your clients use all the connections they have. Usually, they have more connections then they realize. | | | |

Some of you "established" guys need to get off your high horse. Everyone has to start somewhere. | Spoken like a graphic artist/photographer wannabe. Sorry if I stepped on your toes, but I paid my dues. I started somewhere and it wasn't asking for free this and free that. There is a reason that most hotels don't let you come onto their property and shoot for free.
