I didn't see any of you in the photo pit with me, but did any of you attend the show as an audience member?

I used to go to Warped Tour every year until around 2001 or so. It isnt the same at all as it used to be. It used to be full of punk bands that got together once a year and went out together. It was the best time in the world. Now, its just a bunch of mainstream junk and marketing.

I miss the days of NOFX, Bad Religion, Lagwagon, Unwritten Law (pre elva album), Dropkick Murphys, Pennywise.... etc....

Now, i look at the lineups and dont recognize a single band it seems.

Ahh, the good ol days...

edit: Awesome photos though! I would have loved to have gone to be on your end of the concert, regardless of who was playing!

Guess I'm really getting old since I don't even recognize any of these 'classic' bands...

Well, looking forward to seeing Yes and Asia at Bass hall next week. That's music...

heh i know what you mean. I dont expect many people at all to recognise any of those bands, and that was the beauty of it. It started out as an all day festival of the huge names in the punk world. The bands i listed still dabble with the Warped Tour, but they typically only play a few dates, and mostly only in California it seems.

Looks like NOFX and Bad Religion are in the line up for a lot of cities this year also.

But I think it's funny when people say things like "man it use to be so good, with a bunch of band that no ones heard of, but now it suck because there are a bunch of bands I've never heard of......."
Maybe you're just getting old

Nice shots Jason!

That is absolutely hillarious, and so very true. I didnt even realize the way i was wording that, and how goofy i sounded! Hey, 27 is the new 65, you know!

Nofx and Bad Religion have played Warped Tours off and on since the early days. Nofx actually just released an album this year, so im guessing thats why they were at more than just a few select cities this year.

Its real hard to explain what im trying to get at here, and most people wont understand because they werent around for the opening years of Warped. They know only of the current warped tour, full of radio bands and MTV hits. I used to look forward to Warped all year, because it was the one time that you could see all of these great punk bands that didnt usually get around the USA very often.

I've gone a time or two since 2001 just because there would be one or two bands that i wanted to see that dont get around much. I just wish it would have stuck to its roots and not commercialized everything. But hey, everything revolves around money. And I cant say i blame them. Im sure they are bringing in tons more than they would if the filled the day with skate punk bands that a lot of the public has never even heard of.

Im done trying to explain, just dont want to hijack the thread.

Great images by the way. You got some really cool angles!

You beat me to it... There were several old school punk and ska bands playing this year, several current one-hit-wonder/mtv/fuse/radio bands, and several unknown bands. That's the beauty of Warped Tour. You can go to see a mix of old, new, and up and coming bands - assuming you visit all seven stages and not just the big one.
